PROGRAM Preliminary Screening Compulsory Music numbers ●Jiro Nakano (1902-2000): Preghiera op.21 or ●Silvio Ranieri(1882-1956): Variazioni su un Tema di Haydn The candidates must choose one of the pieces and record it on either MD(mini-disc), CD-R, cassette tape or DAT. Please note that the candidates may be asked to resubmit
the recording when there seems
to be a long distance between the player and the recording microphone. Second Screening (Semi-Final) Compulsory Music numbers ● Yasuo Kuwahara(1946-2003) “A Dumb Door” (Vogt & Fritz) The competitors must play Yasuo Kuwahara’s “A Dumb Door” (Vogt & Fritz) The competitors are responsible for choosing other pieces to play as well as the order of presentation. The competitors must enter the stage, tune, perform and leave within 20 minutes. The competitors can also choose to play with or without accompaniment. Final The competitors choose pieces to play and the order of presentation. The competitors must enter the stage, tune, perform and leave within 30 minutes. The competitors choose freely choose whether they play with or without accompaniment. PRIZE - First Prize \200,000 and other prizes - Second Prize \100,000 and extra prizes - Third Prize \50,000 and extra prizes REGISTRATION PROCEDURE The application includes the following: 1. Completed application form (downloaded on website or can be mailed upon request) 2. Two photographs from the waist up in color. The photographs should be taken within 6 months before application and printed on glossy papers of the size of over 7x10 cm or 2.8’x4’. 3. The documents and recorded materials will not be returned to the applicants. 3. The organizer will bear no responsibility for the loss or damage to the documents and/or recorded materials during transportation. Candidates will receive a written confirmation of registration and a bill for the registration fee of \10,000. Candidates are requested to bear the bank handling charge and the registration fee is not refundable under any condition. If the application fee is not paid by the due date, the acknowledgment for the entrance will become null. JUDGING PROCEDURE
Preliminary Screening The names of the players are withheld from the judges. The performances are rated either A, B or
C.
A: qualified
B: neither qualified nor
unqualified
C: unqualified
Second Screening (Semi-Final) The performances of Yasuo Kuwahara’s “A Dumb Door” are marked out of 25 points. The performances of the competitors’ choices are also marked out of 25 points. The sum of the two performances is the players’ point. Final The performances are marked out of 50 points. The final results will be the average of 6 judges. To reduce bias, the maximum and minimum scores will be excluded. The final decision will be made through discussions by the judges after reviewing all the entrant’s scores. The list of marks will be open to the public. Judges are not allowed to evaluate those who studied under them in last five years. Judges are not allowed to contact the entrants until the end of final competition. The decisions of the jury are final. GALA CONCERT FOR THE WINNERS The organizer is to hold gala concerts in 2008 and the winners must perform in those concerts. The organizer will guarantee the performance fee of 100,000Yen per one concert and bear the cost for accommodations of the winners in Japan. TRAVELING VISAS If a visa is needed to enter Japan, the entrant is required to acquire it him/herself. An invitation letter will be issued by the organizer upon request. When asking for the invitation letter, let the organizer know the following data: 1. First name and surname in his/her native language, 2. Gender, Date of Birth, Nationality, Occupation, Present address and Telephone number 3. Traveling costs (i.e. Ticket price, hotel expenses and food cost), 4. Name of the person who bears the traveling cost together with his/her gender, occupation,address, telephone number and the relationship with the competitor. INSURANCE The entrants are requested to get insurance themselves over their own health, loss or damage to their belongings if needed since the organizer takes on no responsibility for those matters. TAX ON THE CASH PRIZE If the cash prizes are subject to be taxed under Japanese law, those prizes will be given after deduction of tax. COPYRIGHT Rights on any performances in the competition and concerts in relation with this competition by the entrants including recording, broadcastings and photos belong to the organizer. Competitors are not allowed to appear in any concerts while they are still in the process of competition. |
